I have decided not to seek another term in the People's House. Representing the people of Maryland's Fifth District has been my great privilege and sacred responsibility for 45 years. Thank you for electing me as your Congressman 23 times.

Congratulations to my dear friend @AdrianBoafoMD on being elected as the Democratic nominee for Maryland’s Fifth Congressional District.
Today, voters affirmed what we all know: Adrian has what it takes to effectively lead & fight for Prince George’s County & Southern Maryland.
It was great to meet voters of all ages and backgrounds today as they head to the ballot box.
Seeing Marylanders come together to shape our democracy gives me even more hope for our future.
Rain or shine, we're keeping the momentum for @AdrianBoafoMD. Now let's win this.
My friend @AdrianBoafoMD has proved time and time again that we can count on him to deliver results for Marylanders.
Today's the day to cast your vote to ensure he can continue to do so for the Fifth District in Congress.
We're almost at the finish line, #MD05. Let's do this!
This morning was truly humbling. I had the honor of joining @StenyHoyer in Mechanicsville as he cast his vote for me. After serving Maryland’s Fifth Congressional District for the past 45 years, earning his support in this moment means more than words can express.
Today, I proudly cast my ballot for my friend @AdrianBoafoMD during early voting in St. Mary’s County.
A driven leader, I know Adrian will fight tirelessly for Marylanders and the Fifth District in Congress.
The General Assembly should also pass the redistricting map passed by the House of Delegates, and present that to the voters for approval at the same time as the redistricting constitutional amendment.
I agree with Senate President Ferguson’s view that the circumstances have changed, and that makes Maryland’s redistricting effort more urgent than ever. I am glad to hear he is prepared to advance a constitutional amendment regarding redistricting.
Today marks 45 years since the people of #MD05 elected me to represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Serving Southern Marylanders in the House has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I thank them for entrusting me with this sacred responsibility.
As an American who believes Jews deserve freedom and safety in their homeland (and in America or anywhere else), that makes me a Zionist. You can start with me, Maureen.
Bigots like you don’t belong in Congress or in our party.
TX-35 Democratic candidate Maureen Galindo says she will convert ICE detention center in Karnes County into an internment camp for "American Zionists."
"It will also be a castration processing center for pedophiles, which will probably be most of the Zionists," she added.
I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the New Democrat Coalition. To me, being a New Dem means putting working people and families at the center of every decision we make and fighting back against this administration’s agenda that puts billionaires ahead of everyday Americans. That’s exactly what I’ll do in Congress.
We cannot sit idly by as Donald Trump attempts to rig this election through his illegal gerrymandering scheme.
Maryland must meet the moment to defend our democracy and ensure this plan won’t prevail. We must fight back.

Honored to have the endorsement of U.S. Senator Angela Alsobrooks. Senator Alsobrooks has spent her entire career fighting for working families — and now she's taken that fight to Washington. She knows this moment calls for leaders who will stand up to Donald Trump's attacks on our communities. And she's trusting me to be that fighter in Congress. That means everything.
I'm so honored to announce that Governor Wes Moore has endorsed my campaign for Congress. It's a full circle moment for me when I first met him in 2022. From workforce development, to poverty alleviation, Governor Moore understands what it means to leave no Marylander behind, and I'm honored to have his support here in the 5th District.
@iamwesmoore
My friend @AdrianBoafoMD’s endorsement from UA Plumbers and Pipefitters and IBEW Local 26 demonstrates his dedication to supporting our unions and working families. I know he will continue to stand with and fight for them as the next Congressman for #MD05.
Honored to be endorsed by IBEW Local 26 and UA Plumbers and Pipefitters in my run for Congress. This is how we win, by building a broad coalition of support to deliver good-paying union jobs, stronger infrastructure, and a future built to last. 🇺🇸
Louisiana v. Callais is a devastating blow to the critical protections of the VRA and yet another direct attack on Black voters seeking to participate in fair elections. We must fight back against the dilution of minority voting power and for the preservation of our democracy.
Glad to join my fellow Democrats in Charles County at the Truman-Kennedy-Obama Dinner and honored to have been recognized for my commitment to helping Marylanders and advocate for our region.
I thank the CCDCC for their support and collaboration throughout my career.
.@AdrianBoafoMD’s endorsement from the Professional Firefighters of Maryland is a testament to his critical work to support firefighters on and off the line of duty, and he’ll continue to be a champion for these first responders as the next Congressman for #MD05.
I'm honored to receive the endorsement of the Professional Firefighters of Maryland. Throughout my time in Annapolis, I've worked closely with PFFMD and fought hard to improve workers' compensation, expand healthcare access including medical cannabis benefits, and strengthen protections for union workers. I look forward to continuing this partnership and fighting for our firefighters.
