βHe does not like to travel to suchβ¦β Their gaze shifted across the environment before them. While there were many ways they could think to voice their disdain, brevity and tact seemed more appropriate. βFar-away lands.β
"Why's that?" Sophie didn't spend weeks digging through dilapidated tombs to miss out on this negotiation. Of course, it's impossible to negotiate with a man who isn't present. Now, she has to put stock in a Thalmor agent. And even worse, a vampire.
Admittedly, the description could fit a number of Thalmor officials. It was the description alongside the circumstances which revealed the answer to Hessunae. Beneath their mask they frowned. βThat would be an unreliable meeting to broker.β
Most would be intimidated by a vampire looming over them, but Sophie remains stoic, more focused on chasing down her memories. These are tucked between the fog. "About as tall if not taller than you. Well-spoken, strange, blond and pasty. The sort of man who knows too much."
Currently theyβre undercover in Winterhold of all places, disguised as a tavern girl in the Frozen Hearth. Itβs miserable.
So if anybody needs any drinks brought their way, at least be polite about it.
"No, he was incredibly cryptic about his identity, but let it slip that a red-eyed Thalmor named Hessunae would know where to find him. I don't imagine he meant a Dunmer zealot."
For a few long moments the vampire just stared down at Sophie. Then, their arms crossing over their armor, they played along. βAnd did this man have a name? Or do you expect me to just unlock the secrets to omnipotence?β
"Yes, one of yours. There was a man I met ages ago, he was Thalmor, a scholar. We discussed the Mythic Dawn for some time. He had a book of some interest to my patron, but I had nothing to trade for it in the moment. Now, I have a trade, but I can't find the man."
It isnβt so bad when the people in charge have good hearts, or when the work doesnβt chip away at your soul.
Which is to say: now is not a good time to swear any oaths to the Dominion. At the very least the Thalmor pay for their drinks.
always believed in the queen, but never the dominion itself. too many corrupted & twisted people. . .
she, herself, doesnβt have ties to any oaths or people. canβt even imagine how that goes
Fortunately they have been oathbound to the Dominion for centuries, and they are rather used to the job by now.
Unfortunately there are no clauses in their oath which would exempt them from obeying the Thalmor now that they are in power.
βMy patron?β There was a long pause wherein the vampire just stared down at the other, unblinking and perfectly still. βDo you mean the Aldmeri Dominion?β
