Every day I open this app and all I see is doom posts about the CS2 item economy.
I understand these types of posts get engagement but, they also signal a clear lack of understanding of market cycles or what you are really trading.
I want to break down my thoughts:
Fact #1: Skins pumped and saw massive gains from 2024 -> 2025
Fact #2: Skins are a speculative asset and they trade like it; you cannot expect infinite upside with no downside, any volatile and speculative asset will give you good returns but will also take them away - what goes up must come down, especially in an illiquid market like CS2 where fear and panic can quickly cause buyers to run away.
Fact #3: Skins trade like any other risk asset and are subject to overall macro conditions - there is a reason the top of the CS2 market lines up with the top of Bitcoin and other high beta tech equities on October 2025 (see attached chart)
My thoughts:
- Things look bad, but it's nothing that shouldn't have been expected
- The market needs to flush out the fear naturally - as price goes down, market participants will leave which is beneficial because sellers at these prices are generally low conviction while buyers at these prices are higher conviction participants
- As supply rotates from low conviction -> high conviction actors price will stabilize and we will naturally find a bottom
- Given price and recent sentiment, I think that we are approaching an overall bottom of price BUT, we are not there yet and I wouldn't be surprised if there is one final gut punch nuke before the bleeding truly stops.
- After we find a bottom, price will probably be stagnant for a while, but this allows supply to be accumulated before another eventual run up
- As risk assets (including BTC) begin to perform again, that will likely begin to pull up the price of CS2 skins as well - combine that with positive sentiment within the CS2 community such as a larger update or operation and the market will likely begin to see some relief and positive price movements.
- Imo, one of the most important things to look at is not item prices but, CS2 play numbers. Zoom out and check: Are player numbers trending up and is the game growing in the long term? If the answer is yes (which is is) then there is nothing to worry about.
These are just my thoughts and I am posting this to offer an alternative perspective compared to what I've been seeing on my feed for the last few months.
I am not an oracle and ultimately none of this is financial advice - just my 2 cents ❤️

The PixelCheck Open Beta is postponed.
Pushing boundaries means hitting unexpected roadblocks. Since we refuse to compromise on quality, we’ve pushed back our launch.
We'll make sure it won't be a long wait, and it's going to be worth it in the end.
