@JimTune@erichoke@iamfujimura But oh so true for many people. Why does it hurt you to validate how people feel? To validate their personal experiences, which are different than yours? Who hurt you as a child? Who didn’t believe your pain?
An alcoholic friend of Philip Yancey once said to him:
“When I'm late to church, people turn around and stare at me with frowns of disapproval.
I get the clear message that I'm not as responsible as they are.
When I'm late to AA, the meeting comes to a halt and everyone jumps up to hug and welcome me.
They realize that my lateness may be a sign that I almost didn't make it.
When I show up, it proves that my desperate need for them won out over my desperate need for alcohol."

Check out this happy little guy. On first glance you might wonder what he’s laughing at… what are his parents doing to elicit his squeals of delight?
But if you watch and listen carefully you can actually “see” the missing half of the interaction.
Because he’s mirroring it in real time.
First watch his eyes - which maintain nearly unbroken eye contact with a parent for the duration of this video. He’s totally locked in.
If you listen carefully you can hear mom and dad making babbling noises of their own… repeating syllables like “ba-ba-ba.”
After they do, watch out hero’s face as he attempts to mimic what he’s just seen… moving his mouth just as they have and working to parrot the sounds they’ve just made.
Isn’t it amazing what we can learn about their two-way interaction simply by watching one side of it?
Well done, Mom and Dad.

This beautiful baby’s beautiful mom was killed last night by an ex cop who was drunk driving on the Rez. Summer was one of the 1st people I told about Dave and I. Halloween as their favourite day of the year.
You've heard how important skin to skin is after birth. People focus on that. We need to focus on all babies having skin to skin with each parent. It mediates baby's temperature. We become their furnace. That way, they can use calories for growth, not heat ❤️
Today’s “word” to consider not using re: First Nations is the possessive tense. Use “First Nations in Canada” vs. “our First Nations” or “Canada’s First Nations” as the latter evokes a colonial relationship.
No one should feel shame to feed their child, to give their child what they need. Even in the House of Commons. Thank you @karinagould! #nursinginthehouse https://t.co/yfSEwyrcfs
