今朝、官邸で台湾の半導体メーカーＴＳＭＣのＣ.Ｃ.ウェイ会長と面会しました。

今日の面会で、ウェイ会長から、嬉しい報告をいただきました。
ＴＳＭＣが熊本で計画中の第二工場を、最先端の３ナノ・ロジック半導体の生産に計画変更し、総投資額も増額すると表明されたのです。

３ナノ・ロジック半導体は、データセンター向けに限らず、高市内閣が戦略分野に定めるＡＩロボティクスや自動運転向けに使われていく世界最先端の半導体です。

これまで台湾に立地が集中していた３ナノレベルの最先端工場が日本に立地することは、戦略物資である半導体のグローバル・サプライチェーン強靭化や我が国の経済安全保障の観点から、大きな意味があります。

高市内閣では、これまでの緊縮志向や未来への投資不足を断ち切り、「責任ある積極財政」の考えの下、政府が一歩前に出て、予見可能性の高い大胆な政策支援を講じ、官民で連携して、国内への「危機管理投資」と「成長投資」を促進してまいります。
ＡＩ・半導体はその要となる戦略分野であり、ＴＳＭＣとの連携はそのモデルケースです。

ウェイ会長からも、高市内閣の、ＡＩ・半導体分野の国内投資を大胆に支援していく政策方針や、生成ＡＩ自動運転、ＡＩロボティクスといった最先端分野において、投資促進や需要創出、人材育成を講じていく戦略を高く評価いただきました。

また、ＴＳＭＣ誘致をきっかけに加速する熊本県の半導体産業集積は、高市内閣が掲げる「地域未来戦略」の肝である「産業クラスター」のトップランナーです。
今や九州全体に経済波及効果をもたらしています。
まさに、「シリコン・アイランド九州」の復活です。

高市内閣は、日本各地にこうした「産業クラスター」を戦略的に形成し、「日本列島を、強く豊かに。」してまいります。

ウェイ会長が、私の著者を読んで下さっていたことも、嬉しく存じました。

So what does Ukraine need?

Victory for Ukraine means survival as a sovereign nation, defended borders, and freedom from Russian occupation and terror.

To get there, Ukraine needs one thing above all: resolve—from its allies and from the free world.

Resolve that sovereignty matters. That freedom matters. That the global order built after 1945 is worth defending—for as long as it takes.

Yes, Ukraine needs weapons. But wars are contests of will. If Russia believed the 50+ nations backing Ukraine would stand by it until victory, it would change the entire strategic calculus.

Russia is counting on us to give up.
