@searles_shanta I really hope social media apps can get a better handle on stopping negative and hurtful content being posted towards people spreading positivity because there is definitely room for improvement in that department.

@gracebrown000 It really is a great way to share information and have more discussions about topics that maybe the traditional media isn't talking about enough.

@AmandaSch1411 YouTube is definitely one of the most used social media tools for school. It is really helpful for creating and sharing information visually with students. It is also a really good way to keep the attention of students who learn better watching videos.

@gracebrown000 I agree! One of my favourite ways of learning this semester is through doing Kahoots in class.

@AM35491 Thanks for sharing this video. I follow a lot of accounts online that have this discussion and it is always a great reminder that not everything we see on social media is as it seems.

@AmandaSch1411 Im sorry to hear that. Im glad social media is able to bring awareness to help with funding research.

2. The three most useful things I have learned during this course is how to manage my online identity, how to research using social media, and how to protect my privacy online. 14.2 #GNED1411

1. It was interesting to learn when social media started and what sites were used when social media began. I grew up using social media so it is strange to think about how it all started. 14.2 #GNED1411

Social media will always be changing the way it is designed to search, market and have consumers stay interested so they can profit off of us. Influencers will be the main way to market and we will use our social media more to educated and search for information. 14.1 #GNED1411

[Stephanie Scales @stephaniedc_23]

Social media is great in the classroom because it allows students to connect with each other for help on how to complete assignments. We stay updated using social media and can seek help from peers online without disrupting the class lesson. 13.3 #GNED1411

I love when professors use YouTube for examples on how to do something. I learn better visually so it really helps me when I watch a video on what is expected of me that way I can follow along and even go back to watch the video again. 13.2 #GNED1411

I have used social media for educational purposes. If I don't understand something then I will research it online. I have used YouTube to learn how to do certain things on Word and Excel. 13.1 #GNED1411

I think social media is effective in reaching so many people and can gain the attention of millions. I have supported different causes by sharing content through my social media. I support any movement involving equality regarding sex, age, race, etc. 12.2 #GNED1411

An example of activism using social media would be when HRC used the hashtag #LoveWins on social media to promote marriage equality for the LGBT community. They received support from Youtubers making the hashtag go viral. 12.1 #GNED1411

@searles_shanta I really support these new jobs that are recently considered the "norm" because it has allowed a lot of great people to build communities. Being a part of an online community can help a lot of people dealing with mental illnesses.

[Stephanie Scales @stephaniedc_23]

@AmandaSch1411 I love this. I think it is also an inexpensive way to market their brand and kick start their business. Marketing through social media can keep a business running and keep consumers engaged.

[Stephanie Scales @stephaniedc_23]

I think the long-term impact of social media will be positive. It helps businesses connect with their consumers and receive good feedback. Politicians can interact with people and gain trust through having an online presence. Communication is key. 11.2 #GNED1411

I have contributed to the participatory economy by sharing information through social media. Producing and sharing as a group is one of the main reasons I enjoy social media and I think it is great people are given an outlet to produce new things. 11.1 #GNED1411

@AM35491 I also used social media to get updates from the government on COVID-19 related news. It was very helpful to stay updated through what they posted.
