@DMartinez5200@WrightMath314@MrsGallardo1 R3) Hello Danny, first of all YES!!! We are our students #1 fan. We are here to help them and watch them succeed in their education. We are on their team and are here to help in any way we can!
@WrightMath314@MrsGallardo1 R3) We can become advocates for our students by learning where they come from. It’s important to learn about our students and their needs. Also letting them know they can come to us with anything and that we will be there to listen.
@AllisonCheatwo1@WrightMath314@MrsGallardo1 R2) Hello Allison, I love this idea! It’s a great way to start the day. This helps their self esteem in knowing they are capable of accomplishing anything. I will use this in my future classroom!
@WrightMath314@MrsGallardo1 R2)I will create a safe AND brave space for all students by making sure my students feel welcomed in my classroom. I want them to trust me with anything they have going on. It’s important for students to feel as if my class is their second home.
@LetyHer15875619@WrightMath314@MrsGallardo1 R1) Hello Lety, I feel like when everyone involved in the students education come together, they can provide a great cultural environment. This helps everyone feel welcomed and respected.
@WrightMath314@MrsGallardo1 R1) One way to work together is starting off by having an open mind to new things. We can build a community with communication. It’s important for everyone to come together as a whole to communicate and collaborate to help our students.
@Thesavior45@WrightMath314@MrsGallardo1@joboaler Hello Adam! I agree with you. I think students get anxiety because they have the pressure of memorizing math facts and being timed on completing them. Also, timed tests can lead to students having anxiety. They may not have enough time to finish the test.
@MissAmandaSilva@WrightMath314@MrsGallardo1@joboaler Hello Amanda! I agree, I feel like when number talks are present in a classroom, student get the opportunity to express the way they see a problem. Students can learn other strategies that can benefit them.
@Lorena91917976@WrightMath314@joboaler@MrsGallardo1 Hello Lorena, I also feel like math facts are focused mainly in memorization and how fast you can complete them. Students don’t have the time to make connections because it’s based on what they memorized.
@WrightMath314@joboaler@MrsGallardo1 Number talks is an effective way for students to show how they solved a problem. It allows the class to see that there are many ways to get to the same answer. It’s gives student the control of showing their point of view in solving a problem.
@WrightMath314@joboaler@MrsGallardo1 Some reasons why students may have math anxiety is because they are being pressured in memorizing math facts and also being timed on their math test. Being tested on how fast they know their math facts is not benefiting them; It just puts stress on the student.
@WrightMath314@joboaler@MrsGallardo1 Memorization of math facts is unnecessary and damaging because students are not developing understandings or making connections because they are relying on distant memory. They feel pressured in memorizing math facts that they don’t develop number sense which can affect them.
@kimberl79103732@tom_karnes@Ststansberry Hello Kimberly! Field trips were also my favorite. I’m from a small town so going on field trips was always exciting. Many of my trips didn’t invoke and technology but I’m sure today it’s being used more on field trips. @CSUBTED#csubedte@teachsci8
@AdrienneLindem4 @tom_karnes@Duncannedd Hello Adrienne! I remember visiting the library every week. I remember being excited every time I would finish reading a book. We would then go on the computer and take an AR test for points. I would always try to get the most points in the class. #CSUBTED#csubedte@teachsci8
