@SteveChalke We absolutely have to understand how children develop to become efficient calm learners and support that process. And go on supporting that process throughout life, so we can all maintain and master motor-sensory integration. As I mentioned 20 years ago back in Coulsdon!
Stories do more than engage.
They build knowledge, they deepen vocabulary, and they give pupils access to worlds, people, places and ideas they might not otherwise meet.
That is why story-rich curriculum work matters.
Year one have been learning the poem 'Busy Day' by Michael Rosen. They are going to perform it in assembly today. They have learnt the words and actions to go with it. We are so proud of them all!
