Your Property Taxes Are Going Up—But They Don’t Have To.

I’ve been hearing from families all over Lubbock who are terrified of their new appraisal notices. When the Appraisal District hikes your home value, your taxes go up—and City Hall usually stays silent while they collect the extra cash.

Here is the truth: The City Council doesn't control the Appraisal District, but they do control the tax rate.

If property values go up across the board, the City automatically collects more money without ever having to vote for a 'tax hike.' It’s a back-door tax increase, and I’m going to end it.

My Commitment:
When I'm elected Mayor, I will fight for the 'No-New-Revenue Rate.' If your home value goes up, I will propose a corresponding cut to the City’s tax rate so that the total amount of taxes you pay stays flat.

We need to stop using your home as an ATM for City Hall’s spending habits. It’s time for a Mayor who puts your budget ahead of the city’s budget.

We, as a city, are taking a little over 11.5 million from reserve funds that are supposed to be for a real emergency and issuing 106 million dollars of new debt to cover day-to-day operations, still with no real growth plan.
