It also helps if you expect a large income (such as from selling a home) in future years. It’s just so you don’t have to spend money later on taxes if you have an influx of cash now to put toward future tax payments.

I am not speaking on why trump paid $750, just stating general education. There are “loopholes” to over pay for future tax returns.
