Today I led on the @uuponline motion calling for an Executive led Loneliness strategy, which was passed unanimously. I got to reflect on a conversation I had, 35 years ago, with an elder lady who came into the butchers shop I worked in mostly for the chat.

Loneliness really can be pervasive and debilitating, but we can beat it. It’s time to value friends more than followers and create a sense of purpose for everyone. Thanks to @BritishRedCross and @agenipolicy and the wider collective for all their help. #Hope #UnionOfPeople

Nearly 30% of unpaid carers in N. Ireland report feeling lonely always or often. A restored Executive must prioritise a cross-departmental approach to loneliness.
