@throwaway91101@mediocredreams@imperiumcarnis@ChronoClaire I did not at any point say he did it out of nowhere.
It sounds like those people didn’t need Jenny’s validation at all, they were already insane.
I didn’t forget anything because I didn’t follow the insane discourse in the first place because my patience and humor have limits.
@TooManyCrowns You appear to be calling her racist for negatively referencing other people’s racism. Unless you completely don’t understand the point she’s making.
@sparrowscript@imperiumcarnis@ChronoClaire You get it. I see why she’d continue to block anyone who brings it up. People calling her racist because we as a society don’t let black men defend themselves.” This is the kind of stuff that inspired the retort of “touch grass.”
@throwaway91101@mediocredreams@imperiumcarnis@ChronoClaire John can be miffed at people coming at him, Jenny can be miffed about the content of his response. That blog post is the most stereotypically Tumblr thing I’ve read in a long time and, along with the other people reacting that way, is the most unhinged thing here.
@throwaway91101@mediocredreams@imperiumcarnis@ChronoClaire She mistakenly cited a false photoshop, but that blog post otherwise verifies what she said he was doing, insulting people who replied to him.
This whole thing is ridiculous. Nothing she said was that severe, what he said was in poor taste but not that severe either. Whatever.
@MrWhale1000x@JessicaValenti Where did she say that? You and another commenter are putting “regardless of any evidence” in quotes, but she didn’t say those words in the video or the tweet.
@lordaj27@Shmorf55@velodus Exactly! It also made Luke go into exile and then Johnson had to try to come up with an explanation for why, but all the weird nerds say “My Luke would never turn his back on the Rebellion!” Okay, blame Abrams for that! He makes a mystery box and then leaves others to explain it.
@WesleySideStory@its_adamneely It’s more likely the other way around. There was a much more limited amount of media to see or hear, so the things that were really big were really big. Like both my parents saw The Beatles on Ed Sullivan, along with 73 million others out of 191 million Americans total.
@Eraserho3@thesongofalark Read the article, but essentially colors would look different once scanned onto film so they drew the colors differently on their computers so they would look the way they intended once on film. The modern releases come direct from the computer version, so they look muted.
@JustinDMillard@PillarChud1 Ryoji Yoshitomi was the composer of Metroid II, but he clearly followed Tanaka’s concept for the music for the first game. “SR388 Main Theme” is a little better than “Brinstar” to me, and the music from the whole end sequence is very cool. Don’t know why it’s all in mono though.
@jax_americana@ContraPoints Yeah, we had some company called Channel One News that paid for TVs in every classroom on the condition that every morning we watch their dumb news program hosted by teenagers. On 9/11, we all stayed in the class we were in when the second tower was hit and watched news all day.
@ShineInactive@luizdocomercial Do you mean the SNES versions of those games with the redone soundtracks? Because the NES could barely use samples at all. Mario 3 has some drum samples, but the rest of the sound is made of two square waves, a triangle wave, and white noise, all synthesized by the NES’s CPU.
@ShineInactive@luizdocomercial The Kawai K1r uses all samples, but they’re low fidelity. Very crunchy and noisy. Some people love it, but I think it’s kind of toylike, especially compared to the contemporaneous Korg M1 or E-Mu Emulator III/Proteus. I guess the Nintendo sound department didn’t have those yet.
@ShineInactive@luizdocomercial The Roland D-550 is a cool synthesizer, but it had so little ROM that the samples are very short pieces of sound used mostly for the attack portion of a patch while simple synthesized waves made up the body. It’s not the most realistic imitation of physical instruments.
