Celebrating ISGOPPI as a 2025 Dicey Scroggins Distinguished Advocate Award Recipient! @Isgoppi@Shotoole81
The Irish Society of Gynaecological Oncology Public and Patient Involvement group (ISGOPPI) has been recognized for its outstanding work in centering the patient voice in gynecologic cancer care, education, and research. This award is presented by the International Gynecologic Cancer Advocacy Network (IGCAN), the patient advocacy arm of the IGCS.
Co-founded by Dr. Sharon O’Toole and Yvonne O’Meara, ISGOPPI is transforming how ovarian, cervical, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers are understood and addressed in Ireland—and setting a global example.
From launching https://t.co/0lSz2Q5F5h and OvaCare, to training over 100 patient partners in research, ISGOPPI has built a powerful network of survivors, researchers, and clinicians working side-by-side for change.
We celebrate ISGOPPI’s compassionate, collaborative model—and their incredible impact on lives, policies, and research. Their work truly embodies the spirit of Dicey Scroggins.

New data from England on womb cancer care: The first-ever national audit pilot report on womb (endometrial/uterine) cancer care across the NHS in England has been published. The baseline report gives a national picture of the incidence, mortality and survival following a diagnosis of endometrial cancer, among women in England diagnosed between 2017 and 2019.
Key findings:
👉Womb cancer is on the rise – cases have increased by 41% since 2001.
👉Geography matters – the report found concerning regional variation in the number of new cases and deaths.
👉Survival depends heavily on stage at diagnosis, and this also varied by region and age.
👉Incidence appears to be higher amongst the most deprived groups and there are ethnic differences in prevalence that need further investigation
At IGCS, we believe this is a strong example of how data-driven audits can improve cancer care. We commend this work and hope it will inspire similar efforts globally, especially in low- and middle-resource settings where womb cancer is often underrecognized and underreported.
👏 Congratulations to the UK teams leading this work. The British Gynaecological Cancer Society (BCGS), @eveappeal,
and @peachestrust are jointly funding the project. We’ll be following this closely and encouraging our global community to learn from this model.
