First licensed in 1727, the present pub designed by A P Killick, dates from 1910. The frontage is a rare complete survival in London of the use of lustrous faience tiling.

The Fisherman’s Arms

The Fisherman’s Arms is located close to the Grand Union Canal, on the Harlesden/ Park Royal border. The nearest Tube is Willesden Junction.

This pub was built in 1928 and featured in the 1988 film For Queen and Country, starring Denzel Washington.

This is a traditionally decorated old-school pub with three adjoining rooms. The room to the left has a pool table and dartboard. The middle room has a long servery, while the room to the right has a stage at one end and seating throughout. To the side of the pub is a small, covered outdoor space.

The decor consists of lino-style flooring, a mix of striped and flowery wallpaper, tables, chairs and sofas, and a few TVs. There are plenty of trinkets on the back bar, including a QPR clock, but I did notice a beautiful original 1920s stained-glass window.

Hay sueños que tardan años en cumplirse. Este me llevó casi dos décadas.

Hace aproximadamente 19 años atrás elegí, al Chelsea. Desde entonces trato de no perderme un solo partido. Partidos muy temprano en Uruguay, algunos de pre temporada a altas horas de la noche, fines de semana organizados alrededor del calendario del club e incluso, ya de más grande, algún día de trabajo al que falté porque una final del Chelsea era un momento que no podía perderme.

Con los años entendí algo que muchos no comprenden: ser hincha no es vivir en la misma ciudad, ni pagar una cuota, ni ir todos los fines de semana al estadio. Ser hincha es sentir que un escudo forma parte de tu vida. Es alegrarte como un loco cuando gana, amargarte cuando pierde y volver a estar ahí al siguiente partido. Es una conexión que no entiende de fronteras, idiomas ni kilómetros. Y eso nadie puede decirte si es más o menos válido.

Hoy estoy en Stamford Bridge. El lugar que durante tantos años solo conocí a través de la televisión. El estadio que imaginé cientos de veces mientras miraba al Chelsea desde mi casa. Y ahora, por fin, estoy acá.

Es difícil explicar lo que se siente. Porque no estoy cumpliendo el sueño de visitar un estadio. Estoy abrazando 19 años de recuerdos, partidos, alegrías, frustraciones y una pasión que nunca cambió.

Hoy no vine solo a conocer Stamford Bridge.
Hoy cumplí uno de los sueños más grandes de mi vida 💙
