@Carpervert Truth be told mortgage rates are fair. Same if not slightly better than 15 or so years ago, far better than 30 or so years ago. The past 10 years have been abnormally low, I doubt they will ever go back to 1% in a hurry

@wrenching_wench And yet no one has mentioned a Honda CR-V. £12K would get u a nice 1.6dtec. A bit less and a slightly older 2.2 dtec would easily satisfy the need and more likely to get you there than all these old land rovers people are mentioning. Best towcar of the year many times over.

@wrenching_wench I feel your pain. I recently employed a lad who had completed 3 years and L3 mechanics at college. Absolutely useless. No real life experience or an ounce of a brain cell. Experience counts for a lot, certificates are nothing without experience, desire and passion.

@hjwakerley Toyota Aygo. £0 Road tax and 60mpg. Great for nipping around in and commuting. I have a C1 (same car) and costs me £80 a month in fuel and insurance. I do 32 miles a day along the A1. I have a 62 plate Aygo with 53k on the clock for sale for £4k if interested
