Yesterday #wind produced 29.2% of GB electricity, more than gas 22.1%, imports 17.6%, solar 12.3%, nuclear 7.6%, biomass 7.4%, other 2.7%, hydro 1.1%, *excl. non-renewable distributed generation
Britain’s electricity system recorded its lowest ever transmission demand today: 12.62GW between 13:00–13:30.
Sunny weather, high solar generation and the bank holiday weekend all contributed to the lower level seen on the network. ☀️
The system operated securely throughout.
🧵 Record-breaking day for Great Britain's electricity system! ⚡
1/ On 22 April, we hit a new zero-carbon record, with zero-carbon sources providing 98.8% of our electricity.
☀️Great Britain has broken solar power records two days on the trot this week! The highest saw the sun generate 14,414 megawatts (MW) - enough to power around 11 million homes across the country. 🏠 📱 Download the NESO app to follow in real time: https://t.co/OqarBT5jAQ
⚡ Big changes are coming to our Demand Flexibility Service. For the first time users can take part by increasing or reducing their electricity usage at certain times. 📈 That means more opportunities to be rewarded for strategic electricity use! 🎉 👉 https://t.co/gFOT12WYcF
Yesterday #wind produced 61.2% of GB electricity followed by nuclear 12.8%, imports 8.3%, solar 7.2%, gas 7.0%, biomass 3.5%, *excl. non-renewable distributed generation
On 25 March at 1:30pm, wind generated 23,880MW of electricity to set a new maximum wind generation record.
🥇At the time, wind was providing 60% of Great Britain’s electricity, that’s enough to power over 23 million homes.
