If cutting support pushes 400,000 more people into poverty, it's not a saving — it's a cost shifted elsewhere.
Poverty drives ill health, housing insecurity and pressure on public services.
UBI+ would provide a secure income floor while protecting disability-related support.
Proud moment for YMCA North Staffordshire 🙌
Our CEO Nicky Twemlow and resident @Keir_Starmer attended the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Legacy Announcement at the British Museum 🇬🇧
Nicky also spoke with Keir Starmer about the impact of funding cuts in Stoke-on-Trent and why investment in young people matters.

"What really matters is family, is faith, is love" - a powerful message from Nicky from today's Easter service.
Today’s Easter service was such a beautiful time of reflection, joy, and celebration of the resurrection of our Saviour, and we were delighted to be joined by Paul Critchley from Presence Worship and Alan Gault, Vicar of All Saints Church

New stats show rents have increased by over 25% in some areas since LHA rates were frozen.
Rent growth recently has been exceptionally high, levels of housing support are inadequate.
The result? Families cover their rent with money meant for food and toiletries.
Today is the start of #EnglishToursimWeek26 the national campaign dedicated to shining a spotlight on the immense quality and exceptional value that tourism brings to local communities and economies.
Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent around 37 million visitor trips are made annually to the beating heart of the country, contributing £2.7 billion to the local economy and supporting more than 25,000 jobs.
This year’s @VisitEnglandBiz theme is ‘Local Stories, National Growth - Celebrating English Tourism Week’.
It’s time to show your support and put Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent’s tourism industry centre stage!
And we’re back! 🎙️

Did you know Stoke-on-trent ranks Bottom 25% for youth services spending across England and Wales?

Budapest, here we come!✈️🌍
It was an early start this morning for the YMCA team as we set off for Budapest to attend the Unify Conference 2026.
We’re excited to be joining youth workers, leaders from across Europe to share ideas, learn from one another and bring back new inspiration to support young people in our communities.
Keep an eye on our socials over the next few days — we’ll be sharing highlights from the conference along the way!🙌

We are incredibly proud of Matthew from our Youth Governance Team 👏
Matthew recently attended the Youth Affairs All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), where he represented the voices of young people across Stoke-on-Trent and spoke directly to national leaders about what youth work should look like today.
He said:
“We must invest in digital literacy which will help young people and our youth workers to identify dangerous content compared to safe content, misinformation compared to truth, and biased content compared to impartial content.”
An incredible achievement and a powerful reminder of why young voices matter.

We’re delighted to announce that YMCA North Staffordshire has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer.
Peter Dartford said, "On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are delighted to share that Nicky Twemlow will formally take up the role on 1 April 2026, leading the organisation into its next phase of growth, innovation, and meaningful community impact".

This Christmas season reminded us just how powerful community can be. ✨
Thanks to our #KnowYourNeighbourhood project, we were able to put smiles on the faces of our amazing YMCA volunteers by sharing Christmas gifts and spreading festive cheer. 🎁

We just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, or helped in any way this Christmas. From donations and packing hampers to giving up time to make it all happen - every contribution made a real difference.
Because of you, our residents and families in our community will have a little extra support this Christmas, and that means more than we can put into words. Thank you for showing what community spirit really looks like ❤️
We’d also like to thank the partners who helped make this Christmas possible:
Vesty Holdings, Ford Mannering, Volunteer Girls from Fenton Town, Harrison & Drury Solicitors, Colas Ltd, Arcadis, Dunelm, Keele Conferencing and Events, and Goddard Dunbar.
Thank you for helping make all of this possible!
