My uncle once told me,
“Be careful of the man who falls in love with your resilience more than your softness.”

That stayed with me.

Because when a man admires a woman for “being so strong,” sometimes what he really means is, “She won’t break, no matter what I put her through.” He starts praising her independence, her patience, her ability to handle stress not realizing he’s slowly adding to it. He convinces himself she doesn’t need reassurance, doesn’t need help, doesn’t need protection, because she’s “built different.”

But strength is not an invitation to neglect.

Over time, she becomes the emotional shock absorber. The planner. The fixer. The calm one. The one who understands. And he becomes comfortable leaning without learning how to stand beside her.
Admiring resilience is beautiful until it becomes an excuse to avoid responsibility.

A real partnership is not built on one person surviving everything.
It’s built on two people choosing to carry the weight together.
