Elon Musk is once again standing with people in need.
Did you know that X Money isn’t a new idea. It’s 27 years old.
Back in 1999, Elon Musk founded an internet bank called X dot com, built on a single vision: X would be the place that holds all of your money. In 2000, the company merged with a rival, was renamed PayPal — and Musk was ousted as CEO. The name X, and the idea behind it, vanished.
But he never let it go. In 2017, Musk quietly bought back the X dotcom domain. In 2023, he renamed Twitter to X.
And in June 2026, X Money launched, the exact idea he laid out in 1999, under the exact name that was once taken from him.
Turns out X Money isn’t a new product. It’s a 27-year-old dream, finally finished by the same man who was once kicked out of it.
