Telemedicine flexibilities have been extended by DEA until November 2024 — next year — while regulators work on a permanent solution that ensures continued telehealth prescribing 👏 👏 👏
We've seen markets bubble & pop, trends come & go — never losing focus on mission.
Because when you succeed at what others call “too hard,” you actually
move the needle on one of the most urgent crises in America.

"We do behavioral health, except SUD — it's too hard."
"We accept insurance, except Medicaid — it's too hard."
Too complex.
Too high-acuity.
Too risky.
We hear this all the time. That's why our work at @BoulderCare matters:
Access is hardest where the need is greatest.
Quality gaps are widest where stakes are highest.
Where patients are most overlooked, the opportunity for innovation is unmatched.
For nearly 10 years, Boulder has chosen to build there. 📍
No shortcuts.
What if addiction treatment looked the way patients imagined it should? That's what we're building at @BoulderCare -- deeply listening to people who use drugs about what must change in our broken system to help them recover. And it's working!
@BoulderCare@nabarund It's been a gift to work with the NC Survivors Union, and my heart breaks in the wake of Louise's passing. Sending our love to her family, friends, and team
@dvasishtha We looked at these deals 10 years ago and the reimbursement mechanisms were patchy state by state. Have policy trends moved in a favorable direction?
.@DEAHQ@derekmaltz_sr thank you for committing to make medications for OUD accessible! To do this, please fix the red tape reg on methadone for OUD, which is not based on the best reading of statute, as we noted in our letter to you last week: https://t.co/LeyqWPlTL9
“There are probably 150 people who control healthcare in America, and they don’t really want anything to change” @DrOz — 💯 I’ve dedicated my career to healthcare innovation, and this point is perhaps the single most influential (and unappreciated) barrier to progress.
+1 for high-performing teams. We think saying IDK makes us seem incompetent, when it actually makes us more credible! A culture that supports vulnerability invites people to be clear when they don’t know; trust is built when confessions are met with problem-solving vs. criticism
False precision kills so many pitches.
When you don't know something - say you don't know.
When there are many different pricing approaches that you're considering (and you're uncertain which one will work), say that. Don't pick one and pitch that.
I'd rather have a founder say what they know, what they don't know, and what they expect to learn -- then have someone be prematurely declaritive...
Working as a peer, Wesley saw treatment facilities discharge patients, cutting them off from necessary treatment. At Boulder Care, Wesley says he can truly meet people where they are and recognize many pathways to recovery.
🚨 Big news for #Telehealth: The DEA proposes a special registration for prescribing controlled substances via telemedicine—no in-person visit required!
This could improve access to care for mental health, OUD treatment & more. #Healthcare#PolicyUpdate

The DEA issued a series of regulations that would allow more flexibility for doctors looking to prescribe controlled substances like oxycodone or buprenorphine online. By @Ganny_Belloni. https://t.co/HcZYgtqyZp
Insurance industry is aligned, too! The DEA is a law enforcement organization charged with creating new healthcare regulations in this instance. Many question whether DEA is the right agency to task with reforming nuanced health policy. Their role is really to monitor bad actors.
Today, the DEA announced another 1-year extension of telehealth prescribing flexibilities. This is a win for millions of Americans who rely on remote care — but we won’t stop pushing for change until public policy permanently protects access to life-saving addiction medicine.
Exciting news! @Trilliumchp members in OR now have access to SUD treatment through Boulder Care. To learn more, hear from Boulder CEO @stephpstrong at @HLTHEVENT conference today. https://t.co/58SLHRW7Wf
We’ll never stop advocating for patients who deserve to access care in the ways that work for them — and for the caregivers with whom patients make these important decisions. Thanks @_BenLeonard_ for staying so close to this critical policy issue!
