stereoconstellation = stellar points giving the impression of solidity.
Generally unmisgenderable, #actuallyautistic.
PhD in nostalgia / utopia / love.
Rhetorical questions are so weird.
Someone asks a great question - pithy, simultaneously simple and complex. Answered in earnest, it should challenge assumptions, generate empathy, expose new facets of a problem.
"Oh, I didn't mean it like that," the questioner says.
I'm trying to figure out how to articulate this to the corporate world. Seems like creating a trend forecasting / risk analysis /strategy firm owned/staffed primarily by autists would be a good idea.
I really hate being able to see problems that are relatively far into the future because most people only think about problems near the present and generally get annoyed when future future problems are brought up. And then you get to watch it all happen over weeks/months.
The weirdest thing about teaching classic cyberpunk is that students can barely see it as SF. To them, Burning Chrome reads as slightly-embroidered realism.
Working on nostalgia and utopia right now. Because per nostalgia, capitalism wants to convince us "home" is in the past - where they can run the numbers to make $. We must fight for the uncertainty of no-place utopia, where the numbers don't tally, where we might create.
@MaxieMoosie It feels good to have a time where I'm choosing to let it all go, and consciously practicing moving through that fear. Oh, I'm afraid. I'm wanting to hold or follow this thought. That's okay. I notice it and accept it. It's all cherishable and releaseable.
@MaxieMoosie For me, part of the pain of having a brain so full of words is the constant fear that *this* thought was an important one and now it's slipping away. Always losing an articulation that might have been the key to... Something. A better life, happiness. It's like constant grief.
@Profundmara@autismsupsoc Focus on self-acceptance. CBT focuses on helping u see how yr thinking was wrong/distorted.. Which can be very helpful for some, but for autistics often trauma is based in how u thought correctly but were gaslit to disbelieve yrself - so CBT can actually retraumatize.
I think it's weird that everyone just ignores how the word "deadline" originally referred to a line past which a prisoner would be shot. No, I do not do well with deadlines. Who would?
@bikesbeerbooks I think this illusion is why people *get into* academia... I know it's what led me here. But "deep and focused study" is only possible for a very few - and "professionalization" sets many of those on a path into administration.
Suffering from alienation-induced autistic burnout. I want to work, but I don't understand why, when the work I do will either just contribute to the capitalist hell-machine, or barely keep me alive in discomfort and precarity (for which I no longer have fortitude).
And second, I have a ton of great ideas and thoughts about this VERY SAME ISSUE, which I can't take the time to research and articulate unless I figure out how to make money off of them. So back to square one.
