If a Government is trying to rush a bill through Parliament, then the odds are that something fishy is going on.
@AmyRemeikis explains just how the donation reform changes could reinforce the two-party system, and shut out independents and new parties.
@simonahac If the two major parties’ Primary vote is in free fall that should send a strong message that they’re not doing enough to address critical issues in 2024‼️
my take: farrell has crafted a devilishly complex package (410 pages!) and told libs it’s a “teal killer” and they have to ram it through tomorrow, or else the opportunity is lost.
but the bill heavily skews to labor:
• each union can run a $11m campaign every year and can still shovel tens of $millions to labor
• big business won’t like the new disclosure rules, will pull back from libs
It's tough to leave a platform where you've spent years building relationships and growing an audience.
That's why we created Bluesky, an open social network, that gives you freedom from platforms, so you'll never have to feel this way again.

@JJKALE2@AlboMP Labor will still be in my top 2 on the ballot. But Labor don’t seem to be taking, climate, Palestine or the consequences of a Trump presidency on AUKUS seriously for mine.
@AlboMP My experience suggests that parents are much more concerned about approving new coal and gas projects at a time when global emissions must be reduced and the deteriorating state of the environment.
no group is better positioned than @climate200 to keep trump-style politics on the far side of the pond.
as well as 10 community indies standing again, we're aiming to help ~20 other communities… and to be successful we need you.

The apparent election victory of Donald Trump, has consequences for the world, that I'm sure, very few people, have ever thought of.
The world has just been sent, in an incredibly dangerous direction.
