🧵on 'NYT rift'

A NYT article on sexual abuse against Palestinians -accurate but barely scratching the surface- is triggering hysteria in the Israeli govt not bcs of the facts, but bcs of the audience.
Apartheid Israel fears NYT readers will finally see and no longer ignore.
@Unseen_Archive@UMich Thank you Prof. @Unseen_Archive. I used to teach at @UMich before @MIT. Perhaps your words will inspire other such speeches in Commencement weeks ahead. As Prof. Ilan @Pappe54 once told us at a @HistoryMIT talk, "Academic courage need not be n oxymoron." https://t.co/Iisx5EiW4o
Israel has issued a demolition notice for the Aida camp football pitch near Bethlehem, a vital space for some 500 children to train and play, and one of the few open spaces in this crowded refugee camp.
Kids found the notice at the gate in December, threatening the pitch’s removal. Voices including Ms Rachel, the high-profile children’s educator, are amplifying this crisis, urging athletes, including FIFA soccer players, and journalists to spotlight the demolition threat and stand with the Palestinian youth.
Local leaders and former Bethlehem officials say the land was legally leased and the pitch built with community support, Al Monitor reported.
A message to the governments of France, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Turkey, Brazil, the UK: if genocide itself was not reason enough for you to break the siege in Gaza and bring in humanitarian aid, the abduction of your citizens by the Israeli regime (and the seizure of a UK ship) should awaken you. You all have navies. Send one ship each, loaded with essential goods. The Madleen has shown the way. You have the power and the right to do so. The Israeli regime has no legal right to stop you. You have a choice. Inaction is willful complicity. We are all watching.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

@Eyal89856202@MissEn4ra7@MonicaLMarks Absolutely no circumstances that I’m in favor, or that my Jewish values condone what the Zionist state is doing in Gaza, the West Bank or Lebanon. (That will be my last response here)
@Eyal89856202@MissEn4ra7@MonicaLMarks Not an accurate analogy. Hitler was not part of a resistance movement of people fighting for their own human rights
@MissEn4ra7@Eyal89856202@MonicaLMarks Or Paris? Or Chicago? San Francisco? Dallas? Name your favorite city… would you be willing to blow it up to save Israel?
