Checked through last summer's tweets, June 6th was when the e-fans started to get restless by my TL.

It's June 4th and I'm seeing similar frustrations. The transfer window isn't even open yet and most players are on holiday or at the World Cup.

@NUFCThreatLevel It'll just pop up one day on here that we've agreed a fee of like £15m with Fulham and he's on his way for a medical. I am intrigued as to what we do in the GK department though.

@NUFCThreatLevel It can't become a cycle. The goal for next season has to be Champions League at a minimum, just as Man United did this season without Europe.

If that happens, in 27/28 we can't have another lacklustre domestic campaign. We can't keep going 1 season in Europe, followed by 1 out.

@JakeJackmann Yeah I agree and if tomorrow is another lacklustre defeat you have to wonder what the future holds.

Mind, I firmly believe a few key signings (namely a goalkeeper suited to our style) and this team could look very different come August, both in personnel and style.

@NUFCThreatLevel That's the type of game that previously we would have blown the opposition away in the first 30 minutes with pressure and running, usually have a couple of goals to show for it too.

Long season taking its' toll? I don't want to make excuses, everything is so poor at the moment.

@NUFCThreatLevel Hopkinson is clearly used to operating at a very high level. Pressure and scrutiny comes with the territory. His words have been chosen very specifically, I feel.

Sounds like Howe has 7 games to prove himself. The only question is what is enough to keep him in the job?

@bensprattjourn @JakeJackmann Suddenly seeing a few people suggesting Nicholas Jackson? Whoever you think could be the solution, I don't think anyone is going to want to be the 3rd senior striker at the club. Could more creativity in midfield/RW help Woltemade?

@bensprattjourn @JakeJackmann Yep absolutely agree. Perplexed at how poor he's looked in some games this season. Fingers crossed a pre season helps, but he's not going anywhere due to the PSR hit it would cause.

Side looked physically and mentally knackered last night. Made the performance look fairly pathetic.

City and Pep have the privilege to play a really fresh squad due to their squad depth and it showed how important freshness is in these European campaigns.

Last night was one game too many and no it’s not an excuse it’s reality.
