@ComicDaveSmith The Nazis were so unspeakably evil and so bent on expanding their doctrines of racial purity across the globe that, yes, it does seem weird to question why we chose to fight them.
@DanielFooksArt The "reality" is that Russia launched an unprovoked attack on a neighbouring country which has cost thousands of lives (Russians and Ukrainians) - that's why the UK Green Party (like most of its sister parties in Europe) has condemned it.
@QuaeroBooks Most Ukrainians do indeed want peace but not peace at any price. As the poll shows, the "peace terms" currently on offer from Russia (which basically involve permanently giving up the territory currently illegally occupied) are not acceptable to the majority of Ukrainians.
@ShoahUkraine "Fascism marching on Moscow? That was someone else's problem." To the contrary, the UK (and the US) sent large quantities of arms to the Soviet Union to help them in the defence of their country.
@MoutonIsAClaret A good scene and it is a neat precursor to the final scene in the film where Bond sees through Wynt and Kidd's disguise as waiters due to their lack of knowledge about wines. Clever scriptwriting.
@iam_jlc The reason both stunts give you goosebumps (apart from the superb photography and locations) is that they were performed by living human beings, not CGI.
@CounsellingSam China had 2 to 3 years of strict quarantines, testing and near 100% mask wearing and they didn't "purge" Covid. Fortunately vaccines and improved treatments have substantially reduced the global severity of Covid.
@QuantumofTweets TLD is a perfect example of how to reboot a popular series of films. Dalton's Bond is clearly a darker and more intense character than Moore's but without losing the humanity or the humour. If only the Craig films had taken a similar graded approach.
@GatesheadFC Could do with some practice in training on free -kicks and corners. Our delivery was diabolical tonight. And here's a suggestion for Lee - if you want to win football matches, it helps to have more than one shot on target.
@1968Tv@WelsbyElton@CliveTyldesley Yes, I remember this. Used to have a useful round-up of the weekend's First Division goals plus the best action from Europe.
@comradedykepop I don't have a problem with someone who wears a mask. What does annoy is the regular claim that a person not masking 24/7 is some sort of evil eugenicist. On a lesser scale are the sneering references to "brunch" as if anyone who dines indoors is committing an unspeakable crime.
@CPthreeio I'm disabled and it infuriates me when the masking brigade claim that "disabled people" are excluded from society because no-one masks as if we're all one generic group with a common viewpoint. For the record, I don't wear a mask or demand that others do so.
@Nicole_Lee_Sch How does masking in a bar actually work? The bar's livelihood depends on selling drinks, so people presumably have to remove their masks to drink.
@Isanthropia 1) 99% of people don't read published papers about Covid 2) Doctors and hospital staff don't wear masks and they are medically trained 3) Masks are uncomfortable 4) People like to eat and drink indoors with friends/family, you can't do that in a mask
@BBHerodotus Robert Caro's multi-volume biography of LBJ is gripping and, at times, extremely moving. Two superb books about periods in British history are Peter Hopkirk's "The Great Game") and George MacDonald Fraser's "The Steel Bonnets".
