Day 2/1000. 🧭
Spent today deep in React Native — one step closer to shipping something real.
Meanwhile I keep seeing AI write entire apps in minutes. Wild to watch, but I still believe the fundamentals matter more than the shortcuts.
Building slow, building right.
$0 MRR today. That's fine. Day 1 always starts at zero.
Working on something ambitious is like climbing a mountain that’s covered in fog.
You can't see a clear path to the top. You have to take a few steps into the unknown to be able to see the next few steps in front of you. Inevitably, sometimes you’ll end up a local maximum and have to backtrack. That’s fine, just keep moving.
Cal AI has been acquired by MyFitnessPal 🚨
Henry and I started Cal AI as 17-year old high school students with one mission: make calorie tracking easier with AI.
In just 18 months, we’ve helped millions of people lose millions of pounds. And we broke $50m in ARR along the way.
We are at an incredible inflection point in history where ANYBODY can build a product that can improve lives and make millions.
As founders, we get a lot of praise. The truth is that this would not have been possible without our incredible 30+ person team. We are so proud of what this team has accomplished, and are thankful to everyone that has been instrumental in Cal AI’s development and success.
Cal AI will continue as a separate app from MyFitnessPal. The combined team will share resources to continue helping people achieve their fitness goals!
Day 1 of building apps to $100 MRR
Personally, I believe a strong foundation is essential for development, so I will read and practice following this book to reach my set goals.
I've achieved 3 out of 4 conditions, and now I'm continuing to conquer the final one. It's just like in a game, where the last condition is the toughest boss — the one that takes the most time. But with my never-give-up spirit, I'm fully determined to achieve it. Thank you everyone for following along with me.
