Six years ago, after the heartbreaking death of Caroline Flack, the words “Be Kind” became more than just a hashtag. They became a reminder that we never truly know what someone is carrying behind a smile or a social media profile.
Now, her family is facing another devastating loss with the death of her brother. It’s impossible not to think about the lasting impact grief can have, and how important it is that we keep having honest conversations about mental health.
We still don’t talk enough about men’s mental health.
Too many men grow up believing they have to be the strong one, the fixer, the one who carries everyone else. Too many suffer in silence because asking for help feels like admitting defeat. It isn’t. It never has been.
If you’re struggling, please tell someone. If someone you care about has gone quiet, check in. Not with “You alright?” as you walk past, but with the time and willingness to really listen.
Being kind isn’t just about what we write online. It’s about how we treat people every day. It’s about making space for honest conversations, especially with the men in our lives who may be hiding far more than they let on.
