@martinmbauer It's already happening.
One early career physics researcher of my acquaintance looked at HE and concluded 'sod this'. He is highly employable, so he's doing fine. But as his PI said, 'a loss to physics'.
@Keir_Starmer says “The one thing we’ve got to avoid doing is... turning on each other and tearing apart our party...." But that's exactly what Starmer/Labour Together did - plotted a coup, tore apart the Party, and scraped by in a general election that was Labour's to lose.
“It is a tragedy of today’s politics that, for too many, working-class defiance finds its outlet in racist organisations and reactionary parties, and that the left’s neglect of class politics… has left it with little moral standing to challenge that.” https://t.co/kZMHYFoBzT
@WakeyShaker@javapro0@officialsammyuk@ZackPolanski No. Lowe's extrapolations are, to be kind, questionable.
Less kindly, he wilfully, mendaciously, inflated numbers to make a bad situation appear much worse.
There are courses on research methods, if you 're serious.
My goodness. 5 years.
Some of you may not know about my employment tribunal against @OpenUniversity. If you don't, @SexMattersOrg published a great summary / briefing note where you can read all about it.
But today, I am posting with new anniversary blog about what happened in summer 2021. It contains the Open Letter, with all the signatories as well as an email sent to The Open University managers which makes, what I think was, my first complaint about the behaviour and actions of my academic colleagues, especially the former Faculty EDI lead (Leigh Downes) and Downes' social media activities in the days after the launch. It also includes the LSE 'statement of solidarity'.
I know we are still fighting to secure women's rights following FWS victory in Supreme Court (and now in regards to prisons in Scotland), but the febrile atmosphere facing academics has changed a bit, perhaps. At least academics are not getting away with such overt bigotry and prejudice in quite the same way anymore.
There is still a very long way to go. But meanwhile, I hope you enjoy the anniversary blog and please do RT, restack etc.
