What profit is there in agreeing that universal friendship is good, and talking of the solidarity of the human race as a grand ideal? Unless these thoughts are translated into the world of action, they are useless…..”

October 16th and 17th, 1911.

“Let hope be a strong and active principle in your life, and let it not be extinguished by the gloomy clouds of despair. Hope is a breath of life to a man. Hold fast to it, for it can accomplish wonders.”
— ‘Abdu’l‑Bahá
"... you have become the embodiments of the exhortation of Bahá’u’lláh in the Tablet of Wisdom where He admonishes His followers not to let their endeavours be spent in promoting their personal interests." — Universal House of Justice

"Every malady afflicting the body of man is an impediment that preventeth the soul from manifesting its inherent might and power. When it leaveth the body, it will reveal such influence, as no force on earth can equal." — Bahá’u’lláh

With reference to Shíráz (Iran), Shoghi Effendi has written:
“The land of Iran, in particular the city of Shíráz, will be thoroughly illumined. She will infuse this contingent world with a fresh spirit, and become the spot which all humanity will circle round...”
Since the Islamic Revolution, Bahá’í cemeteries in Iran have been desecrated or destroyed in a number of cities and towns. These tombstones in the Bahá’í cemetery near Najafabad (Isfahan province) were left in a heap when the entire burial ground was bulldozed.
The cemetery of this region was thoroughly destroyed and eradicated in 1984. Many more tombstones were destroyed in 2009.
Today the need is so great on the part of humanity to hear of the Divine Message, that the believers must plunge into the work… ever heedful of the crying need of their fellow-men to hear of the teachings in their darkest hour of travail.

The cause of God is like unto a college. The believers are like unto the students. The college is founded for the sake of the acquirements of science, arts and literature. If… the scholars are not educated the object of the college is not achieved…
