In this case he probably decided no allowance was required at 3-1 but only DR can say for definite. As I said the ref decides how much as per the rule.

What time does it state in the above “the referee must add” for those stoppages. It’s worded that way to give the referee discretion. He played the minimum and that is all he had to do

@WingsScotland What does the last sentence you highlighted say? I’ll give you a clue it uses the word “may increase” not “must increase”. As I said in this case the referee probably saw no point in playng the 20 odd seconds of time remaining after the 8 minutes we’re up. Pretty simple really.

@WingsScotland You can lie all you want but I never said the ref ended the game b4 8 mins were up. The clock doesn’t stop - it goes on into the goal celebrations and the fans on the pitch. The referee is under no obligation to add more time. Unless time stood still you’re talking pish 🍀🍀🍀

@TheParkheadF @TonyH_Pattaya If we could get him at the right price (i.e. wages) then I’d sign him mostly as a back up / impact striker but start a few times too. His talent is unquestionable and a natural finisher🍀. Big time / situation player too - calmly blocks the ball for 3rd goal didn’t dive in

@WingsScotland The ref “played” the minimum of 8 minutes as required - the clock doesn’t stop. Celtic scored in 97 1/2 minutes the celebrations took up the remainder of the minimum time. It is then up to the referee to decide if more time was needed. At 3-1 the game was dead so no need - simple
