@CheMichael7 Oh definitely. Stuff like how the choice of catalyst profoundly affects e.g. branching, molecular weight, stereochemistry; LDPE vs UHWMPE (or atactic PP vs isotactic PP) have such different properties they may as well be different materials. New catalysts unlocked new properties
@CheMichael7 ...Sustainability angle: catalysts for depolymerization, also oxo-degradading catalysts (e.g. from epi), with controversy - is it just making more microplastics instead of degrading? An issue in some polymer recycling is metal contamination e.g. Cd in PVC (if Cd is in scope!)
@CheMichael7 Lots of good stuff in polymer chemistry. Ziegler-Natta for polyolefins obviously but also in other classes like polyesters. Use in controlled radical polymerization e.g. ATRP uses the subtle redox of Cu. Also...
