Islam seeks to impose itself upon the societies it enters. It has no concept of the secular sphere-the duty of a Muslim ( one who has submitted to Allah) is to win the world for Allah-it is a territorial religion very much centred on this world-It has no concept of the grace or love of God-only that of an all powerful cosmic potentate who can show mercy if he wills it-it offers no assurance of eternal salvation to its followers unlike Christianity-It has no concept of the secular sphere. It is a theocratic ideology. It is in essence incompatible with the values of a free democratic society

What is your real problem with Islam?

Why does the mere mention of it make some of you so uncomfortable?

Why do you look at a Muslim and see a threat before you see a human being?

Why do you talk as if we belong on another planet...

As if we don't deserve the same dignity as everyone else.

As if the Qur'an is nothing more than a war manual.

As if 2 billion Muslims are members of a cult instead of ordinary people trying to live, work, raise families, and worship God.

So what is it?

Is it something Islam actually teaches?

Or is it the version of Islam you've been taught to fear?

Well said-We need to see more examples of spiritual Islam-those who practise it for spiritual reasons and not to impose it upon others-however, in essence it is not compatible with liberal Western democratic values.

We have a problem.

We go to Christian schools and demand religious accommodations.

We migrate to countries with secular laws and some among us demand religious laws instead.

We ask others to respect our beliefs, but too often fail to respect theirs.

Can't we just practice our religion without trying to impose it on everyone else?

Sometimes the biggest damage done to Islam's image comes from Muslims themselves.

There is no redeemer in Islam, no concept of redemption-the whole of the Old Testament-which Islam recognises as a Holy Book-points to the coming of Christ the Holy Lamb of God-the sinless one whose role is to reconcile sinful man with God. You have no such concept in Islam-No redeemer and hence no assurance of eternal life. Everything is the will of Allah.
The Christian is saved by faith in Christ, justified and made righteous before God the Father-in complete contrast to Islam.

You're confusing what some Muslim majority governments legislate with what the Quran commands.

The Quran says, "There is no compulsion in religion" (2:256), and nowhere does it command Muslims to kill someone simply for leaving Islam.

If a Hadith is interpreted to contradict the Quran's clear principles, then that interpretation deserves to be questioned. Governments are not the standard of Islam. The Quran is.

Many Islamic countries have apostasy laws incorporating capital punishment for those who chose to leave Islam:
Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Malaysia and Maldives Mauritania, Somalia,specific states in Nigeria

And no serious theologian even those of a liberal persuasion would deny the historical veracity of the Gospels-written within years after the death of Jesus by those who knew Him. the oldest surviving fragments of the New testament are just decades from the crucifixion of Jesus. There is no figure in antiquity that has that level of historical evidence.
