The BBC says it wants to orientate its News Channel to international rather than British audiences because it can generate revenues internationally. Fair enough. But why should British licence payers pay for it?
Just heard this bloke @matthewsyed talking to Ian Collins on @TalkTV saying the triple lock is unaffordable and, he says, all politicians agree. Well Matthew, old chap, Nigel Farage doesn't agree. Reform have pledged to keep the triple lock and they'll save money by ditching a whole host of other things, inter alia:
Housing for migrants.
Benefits for migrants.
Net zero.
Foreign aid.
And we'll become a richer country by drilling in the North Sea and getting benefits claimants into work.
I swear to God all you so called journalists, political commentators and lefties won't rest until all pensioners are forced to live on 50 quid a week or have shuffled off this mortal coil.
Nasty bastards, the lot of you.
Decent men don’t go after armed forces veterans, try to destroy family farms, smash small business, take away winter fuel cash from old folk, pile on the cash for work shy layabouts! Good riddance …
Can't believe I missed this.
How the HELL can the BBC justify spending licence fee payers' money on a helicopter to follow a sodding train that Andy Burnham in on?
This is blatant propaganda.
Outrageous.
Boris called an election.
Theresa May called an election.
Labour demanded an election when Rishi Sunak became prime minister.
Funny how all those same Labour MPs don’t want an election now, even though Andy Burnham is about to become prime minister, with no mandate.
We are in a very dark place. The football World Cup is on & this council has spent tax payers money going to court to make it illegal to fly Our flag on Our streets.
Two thirds of these Labour MPs will lose their seats at the next election. As a polity, they represent some of the lowest-calibre elected representatives ever to befoul the Commons chamber. Few have had jobs outside charities, pressure groups or Westminster. We deserve better.
Remeber this, Labour had 402 MP's, and not one of them was good enough to replace Starmer.
They had to have a by-election by a Labour MP resigning, to get someone in to replace him.
Thats the quality of the MP's running the country.
This is a great point by Mike Tapp.
If Andy Burnham becomes Labour leader and then Prime Minister without a general election, millions of British voters won't have voted for him, or even know who he is.
That's not how democracy should work.
A change of Prime Minister through an internal party coup should automatically trigger a General Election.
There’s always a tweet.
Labour have done nothing that they promised. They lied their way into power and have betrayed the nation.
An incompetent and rotten government.
We need to start demanding a General Election at the end of this Labour leadership saga.
🚨 NEW: Immigration Minister Mike Tapp has called for a new law forcing a general election if a party forces out its leader
"That would stop the constant churn and focus all politicians on delivery, instead of workplace politics. The country would benefit"
Keir Starmer resigning is not enough.
We must hold Labour to the standards they set when the Conservatives were changing leader.
In Starmer’s own words:
“Britain deserves better. General election now”
