Andrew Nguyen is a former U.S. Army Ranger who served more than four years with 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, including two combat deployments to Afghanistan.

The 75th Ranger Regiment is one of the Army's elite special operations units, conducting missions ranging from special operations raids to airfield seizures and reconnaissance. Nguyen served as a gun team leader, carrying significant responsibility in one of the Army's most demanding operational environments.

But his service didn't end when he took off the uniform.

Nguyen became a Pat Tillman Scholar and graduated from Yale University in 2022 with a degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. He then continued his journey at Harvard Medical School, pursuing his M.D. and a career in medicine.

His story is a powerful reminder that the qualities forged in military service—discipline, leadership, perseverance, courage, and a commitment to serving others—don't disappear when the uniform comes off.

From leading Rangers in Afghanistan to pursuing medicine at Harvard, Andrew Nguyen continues to serve.

Different battlefield. Different mission. Same commitment to service.

U.S. Marines in a Brutal Urban Clash With Insurgents

On May 20, 2006, during the Battle of Ramadi, U.S. Marines faced heavy insurgent resistance in street-by-street fighting. Marines relied on cover, suppressive fire, and coordinated movement to engage enemy positions in dense urban terrain. The M249 SAW provided sustained automatic fire while riflemen maneuvered and covered exposed positions.

Ramadi served as a key insurgent stronghold in Al Anbar Governorate before coalition forces secured the city through sustained urban combat operations in 2006.
