@TomPark1n @grok which province has a higher average wage - BC or Alberta?

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@Tablesalt13 Are you serious? It unified the center-right almost overnight and put the Conservatives ahead of the NDP, at a time when they were hemorrhaging support. KLF was getting smoked, that's why Eby called the election in the first place thinking it would be a cake walk.

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@NewWorldHominin @BillboardChris All of the idiots on Facebook are demanding evidence that he was removed from the business. The irony is too much.

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@PeterKellyBC I think the word you’re looking for is subsidy.

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@S1133657S @amboultbee Totally. She said she crossed from independent to NDP. Conveniently left out her BCCP beginnings and how she got elected in the first place.

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@BillboardChris Is there any way to first elect the BCCP, and then begin the purge of liberals within the party? I agree with your position, but if the vote is split and NDP get 4 more years, what have we ultimately achieved?

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@peternvg Revenue comes from industry. Conservatives will allow productivity here that’s been stifled by NDP for 9 years.

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@sr78 I’m already voting for them - you don’t need to convince me!

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@PeterKellyBC Don’t worry, he’s not the one slumped over in the photo.

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@DaveBeninger Ah yes, the fent fold is a classic sign of someone struggling with "poverty".

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@rparmar_BC They could guarantee it's not Eby!

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@Bratt_world @Conservative_BC Working with FNs on resource projects is not the same as handing over land titles and threatening property rights, obviously.

BC Conservative leader Lorne Doerkson says repealing DRIPA would be his top priority as premier.

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@preta_6 The BC Conservatives are literally a month away from a general election, and all of these right wing influencers are dragging them for not meeting their purity tests. It's been eye-opening to see that they would rather throw a fit lose to the NDP.

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@staticjedi @BillboardChris They lied? They haven’t been in power since DRIPA was enacted. What are you even talking about.

[Steven Corsan @StevenCorsan]

@staticjedi @BillboardChris Lorne literally said yesterday that his top priority is repealing DRIPA

@AaronGunn Carney bought his majority, so now what's holding you back? BC cannot afford 4 more years of the NDP.

[Peter Schiff @PeterSchiff]

Back in the late 1800s and early 1900s when millions of immigrants flooded our shores, no paperwork was required to immigrate. No passports, visas, or work permits. Anyone who could afford a ticket could board a ship, arrive in America, answer a few basic questions, and be on their way.

They could stay as long as they wanted, work wherever they wanted, buy property, start businesses, and basically do anything any American citizen could do. In fact, in most states, they could legally vote in local, state, and even national elections, subject to the same poll tax, literacy test, or other qualifications required of American citizens.

If they wanted to naturalize, they just needed to register their intent and were given seven years to complete the paperwork necessary to become American citizens, which millions of immigrants were proud to do.

Things began to change in the 1930s with the advent of social security numbers, and then more so with the Alien Registration Act of 1940, signed into law as a WWII security measure. When the war ended, instead of being repealed, in 1946 it evolved into what we now call Green Cards.

In effect, we had completely open borders and the country thrived. In fact, during the decades we now call the Gilded Age—the high-growth period that Donald Trump claims he wants to emulate—our borders were wide open. The reason this worked so well is that we had no welfare state. People came to America for freedom and opportunity only. They came to contribute to our economy, not live off it. They did not drain our resources; they added to them.

The lesson is that immigration is not the problem. The problem is the welfare state. Shut off that magnet and America will no longer attract people looking for free stuff. In fact, we need to turn off that magnet for everyone, so those who are looking for free stuff will leave to seek it out someplace else.
