“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” Hebrews 6:19
The purpose of the anchor is to keep a ship or boat from drifting or being lost in a storm. When you see the storm clouds building, run to Jesus. He will keep you safe and secure through the storm.
“Be strong and take heart all you who hope in the Lord.” Psalm 31:24
It is an unpleasant place to be without hope and needing help from another. Will they come through? Can they come through? What if they don’t come through? If you hope in the Lord no situation is hopeless.
“The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” Matthew 4:16
Just as natural light shines brightest on the darkest night. So the light of Jesus shines brightest in a dark world of fear and hatred.
Scripture: Psalm 130:5 “I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope.”
Advent is all about waiting. Waiting is a good discipline and yet one of the hardest things. Let God use waiting to teach you to trust Him and to build your hope.
