As a teacher myself, so many teachers are so insufferable. Holier than thou mentality. Complaining, feeling disrespected, working so much out of school etc. It’s a great job. The breaks are a tremendous blessing when you have a family. Get a different job if you don’t like it
@Guy25Rando12987 Not necessarily true. Watch the playoffs. Hitting is harder today than ever because the pitching is so, so good. It’s hard to get hit after hit after hit. Teams that out homer teams in the playoffs win 82% of the time. A team with a better average in a game win 73% of the time.
@Guy25Rando12987 Yandy Diaz, Nick Gonzalez, Jung Hoo Lee, Troy Johnston and Josh Jung have higher BA than Juan Soto, Shohei Ohtani, Jordan Walker, PCA, Freddie Freeman, and James Wood. All the ladder guys have a higher OPS. You tell me who you’d rather have on your team. I’ll hang up and listen.
@Guy25Rando12987 Wrong. It does not *just measure power. It measures how much you are on base. Which accounts for your batting average and how much you walk. This is not hard to understand.
@Guy25Rando12987 This makes zero sense, though. Like come on, man…. They both have an OBP of .350. That means they get on base the exact same amount of times. But the guy with the lower batting average hits more home runs and doubles. Batting average is important. But you are way too tied to it.
@Guy25Rando12987 And I do think having guys who do both on your team is valuable. As a Cubs fan, having guys like Nico Hoerner is helpful to this team, though he’s having a down year. But someone like him needs to hit .300 to be valuable because he’s a contact guy who rarely walks or hits homers.
@Guy25Rando12987 I guess we will agree to disagree. A person who hits .300 with a .350 OBP with a bunch of singles and some doubles and a couple home runs sprinkled in is not in the same class as a hitter with a .270 BA , .350 OBP, and a bunch of extra base hits. Both are valuable and good.
@Guy25Rando12987 And if you really want to use RBIs to measure productivity, look at the top RBI guys every year and their OPS. It’s almost like having a high OPS is also going to mean you’re usually driving in lots of runs. Because doubles and home runs drive more runs in than singles.
@Guy25Rando12987 Okay, how about the word impactful? You’re impacting the game more and creating more scoring opportunities with extra base hits. RBIs aren’t a perfect window into productivity either. I do think some guys have more “clutch”. But it’s also reflective of guys on base before you.
@Guy25Rando12987@LVSLennyy@kyhighs Jordan Walker or Luis Arraez? You see, OPS measures productivity. What are you doing with your hits? Go ahead and call Luis Arraez a “better” hitter. I’ll take the more productive hitter 10 times out of 10.
@Guy25Rando12987@LVSLennyy@kyhighs Yes, really. Your point stands. But a persons’ batting average does contribute to their on base lol. And hits to their slugging. So question for you. Does batting average alone make someone a shit hitter overall? If not, what does? Is chandler simpson better than Kyle Schwarber?
@LVSLennyy@kyhighs You know jack shit. That’s why you have no response to anybody calling you out on your stupidity. Keep doubling down on it, though. Good look for you. Chandler Simpson has a better batting average than Kyle Schwarber. By your logic, Simpson is a better player. You. Are. Stupid.
@LVSLennyy@kyhighs I figured I’d give you a first grade education on what OPS is. But you are just an idiot haha. OPS is not a big number. It’s simple as pie to understand. But again, I almost guarantee you have absolutely no ball knowledge.
@LVSLennyy@kyhighs OPS is on base + slugging. Let me spell it out like I would to a kid. Batting average contributes to your on base %. Hits contribute to your slugging percentage. It’s a super easy stat to understand if you know anything about baseball. You probably know very little, though.
After Willson Contreras embraced the boos and took on a villain role in the Home Run Derby last night, I asked him today if he thought about what it would be like to participate in it again next year at Wrigley Field:
@Chicago_Goofies I mean, there is no doubt that the cyclist is the major dick here and in the wrong. But the other guy… yikes. Cowering behind your girlfriend and her protecting you? Tough look woof.
@OpoyChase Great hitters find a way to still impact the game and get on base during their “slumps”. His improved approach is helping him do just that. He is turning into one of the best hitters in baseball in front of our eyes.
