Jaskirat Singh Sidhu’s lawyer, Michael Greene, says, “We don’t have to do this. We’re Canadians. We value forgiveness. Second chances are always part of our criminal justice system.” But Chris Joseph (@cjoseph23), a former NHL hockey player whose son was killed, along with 15 others, by Sidhu’s dangerous driving, says Sidhu has already used up a second, third, fourth, and fifth chance.

“Everywhere I go, he [Sidhu] affects me,” Joseph says, highlighting that because Sidhu is an offender out on parole after serving about 3.5 years of his eight-year sentence for killing 16 people and injuring 13 when he blew through a stop sign in broad daylight, Corrections Canada must inform the families of Sidhu’s movements, sometimes resulting in overlapping weekend plans.
