Appalling to see so many deaf people having to explain that MAKATON IS NOT A SIGN LANGUAGE in #SignLanguageWeek
Makaton are signs adapted from BSL (in a highly problematic way) used with spoken English. It's actually English with key word signing, not a real sign language.

๐๐Happy 5th Birthday to Curly's Farm ๐๐
'From small acorns mighty oaks do grow' ๐ณ
Curly's Farm is true of this too!
From an idea to invite a small number of young people on to my smallholding in Brambledown back in 2018, quickly became a very popular and sought after resource to help supplement the learning of both mainstream young people and those with SEND.
Fast forward 5 years...Curly's Farm is now a multi award winning farm recognised in counties across the UK.
With Farmers, smallholders and zoo's travelling 100's of miles to purchase Curly's Farm rare breed livestock...only in August 2023 we had a small flock of Curly's Farm rare breed Dorset Horned sheep move to the Shetland Isles.
Curly's Farm wouldn't be Curly's Farm without the amazing young people that call Curly's Farm THEIR farm.
So, celebrate this day with us by posting and sharing your favourite pics and memories of you at Curly's Farm๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ, we can't wait to see them.
Super helpful to learn from Linda Eriksson, Swedish National Resource Centre for #deafblindness, about use of #socialhaptic communication to facilitate use of computers and smartphones.
Today's report from @SpeechAndLangUK finds that teachers now estimate that 1 in 5 pupils are struggling with their speech and language.
More than half of teachers say they have not had enough training on how to support pupils' speech and language.
"Our foremost applause goes to the planners, organizers, and Scientific Committee, and to all involved in front and behind the scenes. They made it possible for all of us. Thank you, a million times.โ 3/4 @DbI_connect
