The joy of 12 year old Seba enjoying for the first time in her life a carousel while she is having new legs built for her in Seattle reminds me why we do this work. It's to give these children back their childhood and a new life. Thank you to everyone who helps with a heart of love and kindness.
I love this photo of Adam in today's @chicagotribune because it captures his true essence of a happy, innocent child who lost so much, beyond what we can possibly understand. In case you can't read the story, Adam's grandmother said she searched for the faces of her son, her daughter-in-law and her three grandkids. She spotted Ahmed on the ground and reached for his arm: “It was detached,” she said. Next to Ahmed was his wife — and in between them was Adam, still wrapped in the bedsheet he was sharing with his parents.
“Adam’s mom was still wearing earrings,” Fojo said. Adam’s siblings, Yusuf, 5, and Nada, 7, were a few steps away — lifeless and still. “They were killed while sleeping,” Fojo said, tears slowly sliding down her sunken cheeks. At that moment, she thought even Adam had died, but “God wanted him to live,” she said.
Following the airstrike, their neighbors — also in tents — ran through the rubble to help, or at least to figure out who was killed. Fojo said her daughter took Adam to a hospital nearby. Adam never saw his parents or his brother and sister again.
My life's work is to serve these children in Palestine. Adam is a special boy to everyone who meets him, so loving and full of energy, despite being orphaned in a bombing in Gaza, which also took his leg. Thanks to our host family and community in Chicago for taking care of him. We in @healpalestine_ are so grateful.☮️🇵🇸✌️
So honored to have a chance to heal Gaza’s injured kids like Mohammed, 13, who’s learning to walk again after a bombing took his legs and killed two brothers. ✌🏻🇵🇸☮️
@healpalestine_ was featured last night on @pbsnewshour featuring four of our injured Gaza children who are getting medical care in the USA. We are honored to be able to help these kids heal and have a better future.
Gaza now has the highest number of child amputees per capita in the world.
Before the State Department paused new medical visas for Palestinians in August, a group of children was able to leave Gaza for life-saving medical care here in the U.S. Their stories reveal both resilience and hope.

@NewsHour Thank you for doing such a professional job sharing the stories of these four children. We are so honored to help heal them and try to give them a better future.
so grateful to Miss Rachel for featuring the artwork of our patient Mohammed, who lost both legs and hands in a bombing in Gaza. It made him so happy. https://t.co/CWOlpDZ6bQ
Our first camp for displaced children in Gaza finished this week, combining fun, education, medical checks, dental care, social support and daily food. Thank you for supporting @healpalestine_
Our HEAL Palestine team in Egypt proudly welcomed 13-year-old Waheed, who has just completed his treatment in Flint, Michigan, through our Global HEALing Program.
Waheed lost an eye, an arm, and a leg in a bombing in Gaza in 2024 — but his courage and spirit have never wavered.

I’m so excited to see 12 y old Yassin learning to walk again after losing his legs in a bombing in Gaza. This is the work I’ve dedicated my life to, and is the foundation of @healpalestine_ 🇵🇸☮️✌🏻
@Stevesosebee@healpalestine_@Stevesosebee , our life paths are quite different. You in Gaza and me with family in Israel. However, I hope this horrible war has ended and you can continue to do good work there. B”H.
