@JaredSleeper Companies respond to incentives too. Just wait. Those that do not respond quickly enough might be gobbled up by PE, which will buy them cheaply, do it for them, and then return them to the public markets.
Ending: The Road Less Traveled
The coffee chat with Kevin went well, and I later talked to the partners over the phone. After a few weeks of waiting, the offer letter came via email.
And on April 13th, 2020, I started my first day at Growth Street Partners.
Stories are great for inspiration, but the lessons they teach guide our execution.
For me personally, I learned this one thing about myself...
If I have high conviction for something, I will get it done. I will find a way.
Still nothing. Now I’m thinking “shit, this is not going to work.” I knew I had to switch up my approach.
I tried something different on my third attempt.
Email 3:
I shifted the email from “all about me” to “Hey I think you would find this helpful.”
But more importantly, to SHOW and not just TELL when demonstrating value.
I even attached a slide deck about the industry and the firm.
Ten years ago, we started @peardeck to help teachers engage every student, every day. Today is an exciting launch of a broader vision that also includes daily practice, assessment, and personalized tutoring. So proud of the impact for millions of students over the years!

@CKolenaty There is def some truth to this. (1) entrepreneurs don’t fit in the banking analyst box and (2) it’s been a lucrative time to be an entrepreneur.
