@DaveHP_ We are and have always been one of the most tolerant countries in the world. Now look what that tolerance has done to us. We are called racist because we respect our history, culture and sovereignty. This is nothing but envy impersonating someone your not.
Notice how Kemi has told none of “her story” here, which is pretty standard for a speech like this.
It’s because her story starts in another country, and her rise in the Tories begins with being Francis Maude’s DEI hire who wanted to increase foreign aid.
This is not really about you, or any other minority.
For once, maybe just maybe, what is happening concerns the English themselves.
Yes, I understand why the government wants everyone to feel they belong here. That has been the logic of the whole post-imperial British project.
But that does not mean the English have to surrender the right to define themselves as a historic people, or accept that their identity simply means anyone who happens to live in England.
Perhaps, for once, the English can ask what is happening to their own country, their own continuity, and their own identity without the entire discussion immediately being reframed around everybody else.
@KEdge23 And what did the Tories do in 14 years but take the money, scuppered brexit, made a deal with the EU on mass migration, depleted our armed forces amongst a failed NHS, failed education system, infiltrated Whitehall with corruption etc etc
This is a devastating scandal.
Why did it take the brutal murder of our beloved Ann Widdecombe for the police to do their jobs?
The Police and the Home Secretary have serious questions to answer.
The man who led Serco when it won asylum-accommodation contracts estimated at £1.9 BILLION now sits on the board of the Home Office, the department that awarded them.
Rupert Soames was Serco CEO from May 2014 to December 2022.
In 2019, Serco won two ten-year asylum accommodation and support contracts covering the North West and Midlands & East of England.
Soames described them as “the largest contracts by value ever awarded to Serco”.
In June 2026, he joined the Home Office. It now lists him as its LEAD non-executive director.
The department says its board steers and scrutinises its strategy, performance and capability. Serco remains an asylum-accommodation contractor.
The former contractor chief now helps scrutinise the customer.
How is the Home Office managing any potential conflicts of interest on Serco-related matters? Is he excluded from those discussions?
£1.9bn was Serco’s original estimated ten-year contract value, not money already spent.
