"Thames Water sewage spills set for record high."
Hard to believe isn't it, even after all of the outrage, all of the publicity, all of the anger Thames Water is well on course to dump more sewage this year than at any point in the last 10 years.
Time for govt to act, time to take back TW.

I’m delighted to share that after persistent pressure and raising the alarm with the Environment Agency, Ofwat, and the Flooding Minister, Thames Water have finally listened and completed emergency upgrades at Horley Sewage Works. Every time it rained, families here risked sewage flooding in their homes. Now, with the new overflow pipe and tanks in place, residents near Horley STW will be protected from sewage spills. Thank you to everyone who campaigned with me to achieve this.
Horley residents have been writing to me all summer about inconsiderate holiday makers who don’t want to pay for parking at Gatwick airport. They are fed up and frustrated they cannot park in the street outside their own homes, and that it’s also difficult for friends and family to visit.
@_Chris_Coghlan@_Chris_Coghlan we get it all the time in our lay-by in Lee Street very annoying and I even think the airport parking companies use Horley as an overflow car park.
So @AnglianWater has been fined £62.8 million for illegally dumping their sewage into the environment.
In an act of self-pity CEO Mark Thurston, said: “We understand the need to rebuild trust with customers and that aspects of our performance need to improve to do that."
Would that by any chance be the same Mark Thurston who was formerly CEO of that other great British success story HS2? Well of course it would. "Trebles all round."

@Feargal_Sharkey@thameswater This is the line they used for me! totally unacceptable they should be able to keep all thier sewage away from our houses this is a lack of investment not bad weather! 😡
Two years ago @thameswater appointed a new chairman, Sir Adrian Montague, there to turn the company around we were told, "expertise in governance, finance, regulation" we were told, "experienced Chairman and Non-Executive Director of both privately owned businesses and listed companies" we were told, 6 months later a new CEO, Christ Weston "strong operational and strategic leadership expertise" we were told, "turning round business performance" we were told, "improving customer experience" we were told.
Thames Water has just announced a £1,600,000,000 loss.
"Severn Trent boss paid £3.2m despite rise in sewage spills."
Everything you need to know about the water industry in a single headline.

Thames Water paid lawyers/advisers £136m to secure £3bn emergency funding at 9.75% interest.
It has £20bn debt pile, debt at privatisation was ZERO.
28% - 35% of customer bills pays interest. Sewage dumped in rivers, leaks unplugged, people fleeced.

"Water companies ‘to impose surge pricing’ in summer."
Oh dearie me, it's finally come to this. In an attempt to deflect from their own greed, incompetence and mismanagement water companies have come up with what they no doubt will think is an utterly brilliant strategy, blame their customers.
And @Ofwat does what exactly?

💥 BROKEN. RIGGED. A COMPLETE SH!TSHOW. 💩💩💩 That's the current system.
We don’t need tweaks. We need transformational reform. End sewage pollution. End the profit-first model. Build a water system that works for the public and the environment.
