"Clean rivers target is impossible to meet, says water regulator." And in other seasonal news the @EnvAgency have basically given up.

The original idea was that by 2027, at the very latest, 100% of rivers in the UK would be in 'Good' ecological condition. Theresa May's govt revised that number down to 75% in 2018. Current forecast, by 2027 just 6% will have achieved that goal.

The @EnvAgency were first tasked with delivering that objective in 2003.

From St Austell in Cornwall to the Thames Estuary by my reckoning there are currently 87 different locations where sewage is being dumped on beaches and into the sea.
