i think a lot of k-pop fans oversimplify this conversation. leaving SM or any company isn’t automatically the better move just because they has a terrible reputation.
yes, SM has plenty of flaws. but they’re also one of the biggest companies in the industry with resources, infrastructure, connections, production teams, marketing, touring power, and global distribution that very few companies can match.
more artistic freedom is definitely a huge advantage of leaving, but that freedom often comes with tradeoffs. you’re also giving up a system that’s been built over decades. we’ve seen idols thrive after leaving, and we’ve also seen others struggle with visibility, promotions, or maintaining the same momentum.
it’s kind of like working at one of the big corporate firms. the management might be awful, but the resources, network, and opportunities are hard to replicate elsewhere. leaving can absolutely be the right decision for some people, but it’s not automatically the better one.
it’s honestly not that different from working in a big corporate company. how many of us complain about our bosses every single day and joke about resigning? but we’re still there because of the salary, the opportunities, the colleagues we’ve grown close to, the environment we’ve become familiar with, and the career we’ve built. hating your management doesn’t automatically mean leaving is the best decision.
it’s the same with idols. we hear them complain about the company sometimes, but we don’t know everything that’s keeping them there. maybe it’s the people they work with every day, the team behind them, the stability, the resources, or simply because they believe it’s still the best place for this stage of their career.
fans only see a tiny fraction of what goes on behind the scenes. the members are the ones living that reality every day. if they choose to stay or renew, it’s probably because they’ve weighed every pro and con far more carefully than we ever could. the least we can do is respect that decision.

i know george is not satisfied because he’s a very realistic and technical driver and he won’t let go until the issue with the pace of his car isn’t fixed but the sun shined on us today and we’ll take this podium with grateful attitude, luck comes to those who act!
