@stenersonMN NIV is the most commonly used translation, and I preach from it for that reason. CSB is a good translation, but it is not widely owned, so there’s that.

@JoelRenkema @socofthesacred The whole point of Jesus’ words there was not a location. Jerusalem was the city on a hill, but Jesus is flipping it from a location to a people. “Ya’ll are a city on a hill.” It’s Jesus removing the importance of a location and placing it on the faith of the people.

@mikeleake Very early on Sunday morning, around 5am. I don’t use notes, so I run through the text for timing and flow of thought. Deciding what needs explanation and what is clear from the text, etc. also helps me get the text on the brain in an explanatory way.
