Disasi wasn't a bad player at Chelsea. We have to recognise that some players simply aren't comfortable in certain roles, and Disasi is one of them.
He was often used as RCB, a role that exposed one of his biggest weaknesses: defending wide channels. That's not where his strengths lie. you can see he had a very good loan at Aston Villa and West Ham . The only time he had a very bad game at Villa was when he was also used as a RCB instead of CCB.
We saw something similar with Colwill under Pochettino. Many fans wrote him off because he looked poor at LCB but the reality was that he was being profiled in the wrong way . Once a player is used in a role that doesn't suit their attributes, their weaknesses become far more obvious.
That said, Raz is comfortably top 5 scout/ tactico here. And he’s not no 2 for me.
You guys just find it easy to point a mistake without context.
Atm in the squad we have:
— Santos who excels in screening the defense, but he can’t carry and can’t receive under pressure, and can’t eat up ground on defensive transition to prevent goals on the counter. He’s below average aerially too.
— Lavia who EXCELS in receiving under pressure and is a good carrier of the ball (only hesitation is he can’t force the issue with his carries which would be useful breaking down low blocks). But he doesn’t offer anything aerially and is rubbish at screening the backline.
— Barco who can carry, receive under pressure, and mop up ground on defensive transition. Doesn’t offer anything aerially and not great at screening the defense. Less control than Lavia/Santos but probably the best option rn.
— Essugo... Enough said. Offers literally nothing we need. If he’s okay being backup to Caicedo for the rest of his career then he’s alright as a like for like backup to Moi? But he’s just nowhere near as good in possession, so I don’t see the point in even keeping him around at that level.
🚨🔵 Chelsea value Malo Gusto at £75m fee and not actively working to sell the French RB despite signing Marco Palestra.
Man City interest but no bids or club to club talks so far.
