Randall Park says Hollywood keeps “taking the wrong lessons” from successful movies.
“For example, ‘BARBIE’ is this massive blockbuster, and the idea is: Make more movies about toys! No. Make more movies by and about women!”
@black_raijin@FormerSoulKing@emetswife So it’s kind of a weird grey area. Iva is depicted as a freak who looks wrong and does questionable things, but also Iva is presented as a kick ass revolutionary hero fighting against oppression.
@black_raijin@FormerSoulKing@emetswife There’s a video a while back that kind of put it into perspective with those quote. “Oda seems to think queer people are freaks- but he also thinks freaks are really cool.” They are depicted as freaks it’s just that Oda is aggressively positive in depicting them like that.
im genuinely so scared because it could be a relative or a random man on the street you irked the wrong way and this could be your life…some guy decides the rest of your life based on his mood and you’re left disfigured
Mark Ruffalo responds to accusations of antisemitism for speaking out against the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger, the Ellison family, and their company Oracle:
“Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. […] This merger has real consequences for real people, and for the entire country. […] The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public.”
Oracle executive vice chair Safra Catz previously said the company made its technology available to support the Israeli military, describing some of Oracle’s technology as “profoundly scary.”
Larry Ellison is the co-founder of Oracle, while his son, David Ellison, is the CEO of Paramount.
