whimsy all the time can be distracting and exhausting which can lead to frustration.

It isn't fair isn't fair to compare that to zero whimsy.

I'm not sure why everyone is so down on Gemini. I don't use it as an agent so I can't comment on its coding ability. But I enjoy chatting with it on Google searches.

I think it gets a bad rap that isn't deserved.

@LukeParkerDev @thdxr I find subdomains lead to annoyances with certificates, CORS, authentication, cookies, etc. All solvable but paper cuts you have to deal with.

At a certain size, you probably have a level 7 load balancer anyway so the convenience of DNS routing is less.

@mitsuhiko Curious what disappointed you. I've moved entirely over to them and have no major issues so far, but I haven't pushed them too hard.

@DominikTornow As someone who has managed developers in the past, I've actually found that strategic vagueness can be an asset. It leaves room for people to surprise you.

@atmoio I've actually found that I want more from Codex.

I'm like Goldilocks complaining Astra can be too little, Fable can be too much.

But I actually still prefer Fable.

@straceX As someone who lived this for a few years, it isn't as bad as you'd think.

Of course, for my new projects I reach for PostgreSQL. But I have to admit, MongoDB wasn't horrible.

Part of me thinks the reason that Anthropic/Amodei is pushing so hard for regulation is specifically a distrust their executive team has for Sam Altman.

I suspect that Amodei does not trust that if both publicly agree to pause that OpenAI will respect the deal.

Java is worse than many, but better than many as well.
