Over the weekend, NMD Pharma joined scientists, clinicians, and patient advocates at the 2026 @PNSociety1 (PNS) Annual Meeting in Maastricht, The Netherlands, where further safety and efficacy data from the Phase 2a SYNAPSE-CMT study evaluating ignaseclant in patients living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (#CMT) was presented in a late-breaking oral #presentation by David Herrmann, MD, Chief of the Neuromuscular Division and Vice Chair for Strategic Initiatives in the Department of Neurology at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Key findings showed that ignaseclant demonstrated consistent and sustained signals of benefit across multiple secondary functional endpoints. These improvements were observed in the CMT Functional Outcome Measure (CMT-FOM) composite scale at Day 7, which continued to improve further to Day 21 and sustained with statistical significance 7 days after treatment cessation. Similar patterns were also observed in hand grip strength, with additional improvement trends seen in the 9-hole peg test and lower limb outcomes.

The presentation, entitled ‘Efficacy and Safety of Ignaseclant in Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease: A Phase 2a Study’, will be given on Sunday, June 14 at 12.45pm CEST by David Herrmann, M. B. B. June is #MyastheniaGravis (#MG) awareness month, a time to raise awareness of this rare and chronic autoimmune disease that is estimated to affect more than 700,000 people worldwide.

In individuals living with MG, immunoglobin G (IgG) autoantibodies disrupt the normal communication between the nerves and muscles, which is important not just for mobility, but also for general healthy signalling involved in cardiovascular or gastrointestinal health, mood, cognition, diabetic control, and bone health. Over time, the cumulative impact of IgG attacks lead to structural changes in the muscle membrane which, along with the interrupted signalling, can cause ongoing, debilitating, and potentially life-threatening muscle weakness and fatigue that significantly impacts quality of life. MG commonly affects the muscles that contribute to proper eyesight, chewing, swallowing, and speaking and can also lead to difficulties with walking, running, or going up and down stairs. In addition, while MG is more commonly seen in adult women under 40 years of age and men aged 50 and over, it can occur at any age, including childhood.

There is currently no cure for MG, and despite the many approved therapies and medicines in development to address the autoimmune aspects of this #NeuromucularDisease, the associated muscle weakness and fatigue can significantly impact patients’ functional level and quality of life.

We’re proud to share an important milestone for NMD Pharma and the Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) community: the final participant has been dosed our Phase 2 SYNAPSE-SMA clinical trial evaluating ignaseclant in ambulatory adults living with SMA Type 3.

We would like to thank all trial participants, families, investigators, study coordinators, and the broader SMA community for your support, commitment, and partnership throughout this journey. Your contribution is helping advance our understanding of ignaseclant and its potential to improve life for people living with SMA.

The study enrolled 52 participants across sites in the US and Europe. As we move into the next stage of the trial, our teams are working closely with investigators, data experts, and statisticians to ensure all study data are collected, verified, and analysed to the highest scientific standards.

We anticipate sharing an update on the SYNAPSE-SMA trial outcomes with the SMA community in the middle or late summer. If the results are positive, we look forward to working closely with people living with SMA, investigators, researchers, regulators, and the broader community to plan the next phase of clinical development.

How do you get an extra dose of motivation in your workday?

At NMD Pharma, we recently had the immense pleasure of welcoming Stefan Bos, who lives with SMA, and his caregiver, Erna Speelman, who is also his mother, to our offices in Aarhus.

Stefan lives with spinal muscular atrophy (#SMA), but, as he puts it: “I have SMA, I am not SMA.”

During his visit, Stefan met with colleagues across #NMDPharma, toured our in-house laboratory facilities, and shared his personal story of living with SMA. He gave us valuable insights into his everyday life, what works, what does not, and what continued movement would mean to him.

Stefan also shared a message that resonated with all of us: “If you can help me keep the movement in my finger, support my voice, and support my breathing, I would be very appreciative.”

For our #scientists and teams working to advance small-molecule drug candidates designed to enhance #MuscleFunction and endurance in people living with #NeuromuscularDiseases, Stefan’s visit was a powerful reminder of why individual patient stories must remain central to #DrugDevelopment.

Earlier in the week starting on Sunday afternoon, NMD Pharma joined patients, clinicians and advocates from across the myasthenia gravis (#MG) community in Hollywood Beach, Florida for the 6thAnnual @MyastheniaOrg (MGFA) National Patient Conference.

NMD Pharma’s Dan Brennan and our Patient Community Advisor Jeff Selby shared information at an exhibit table about the NMD Pharma SYNAPSE-MG clinical trial for those with generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) that are experiencing muscle weakness and fatigue despite existing treatments. Jeff Selby an adult SMA patient who was a participant in the SYNAPSE-SMA clinical trial, helped engage in meaningful discussions with patients and caregivers about the experience of participating in #ClinicalTrials and the importance of participating in clinical research for new and unique treatments. It was great to see such strong engagement from the MG community, with many valuable conversations and a high level of interest in the study.

Topline results, which were announced last month, showed that ignaseclant was well-tolerated, with sustained improvements in objective functional measures and patient-reported outcomes. Taking place in Florida 4 at 2:15 PM ET on Wednesday, March 11, this presentation will be given by W.
